Were You There When They Crucified My Lord – two versions

With Easter just next week I thought I’d re-visit that beautiful hymn Were You There When They Crucified My Lord.

Here are two vintage videos, one from 55 years ago and the other 65 years ago. They’re very different, but both worth watching at this time of year. They certainly take me back to the early days of TV in Sydney.

The first is a male choir performing with lead singer Stuart Churchill on the Fred Waring Show. This went to air in the US on CBS  in 1950.

The second is Johnny Cash and The Carter Family from 1960.

The earlier post of this hymn was by an 8,000-strong choir performing at the Cardiff Arms Park. Click here to see it.

There’s also an arrangement of this hymn on our downloads page.
